Sr. Engineer - NVH
Responsibilities
Determine sources and root causes of structure borne and airborne noise from electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, fans, and compressors.
Recommend design improvements and work with the design teams to test, validate, and implement improvements.
Perform sound source localization and transfer path analysis to quantify and rank contributions from rotating machinery components
Perform component-level testing on test fixtures or dynamometer and correlate component level results and trends to NVH performance on the complete product.
Preparation of physical test plans and methods to validate NVH characteristics in real-life test setups.
Optimize designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments
Collaborate with designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to identify risks, strategically create simulations, plan, and conduct validation testing, and deliver objective, data-driven engineering guidance and solutions
Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems
Provide data and technical guidance for product architecture development efforts
Support design reviews and DFMEAs both component and system wise.
Organize and lead design reviews, solution brainstorms, and implementation efforts
Evaluate competing NVH design approaches using any one of the various development tools (DFMEA, fault tree, decision matrices, etc.)
Evaluation of new/innovative NVH ideas in digital and physical environment and comparative study.
Advance team capabilities through the use of new methods, materials, technologies, and software tools
