Lead - Power Electronics

Responsibilities

  • Design and build hardware of power electronics converters for use in various applications

  • Work on hardware – from specification to design, prototype, reliability validation.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineering teams to design, validate and manufacture power converters.

  • Architecture and modelling of new power converter topologies that achieve better performance

  • Creation of Product development methodology for the embedded systems

  • Conduct knowledge sharing and skilling up sessions for the team

  • Drive an innovation-based problem-solving approach in the team

  • Optimize the time and accuracy of the design cycles with constant improvements in the methodology

  • Optimize and update the performance of the design and team with new suitable developments.

Skillset Required

  • Strong understanding of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC).

  • Experience with high voltage power semiconductor selection (Si/SiC/GaN MOSFET’s, Diodes), gate drive and protection circuit design.

  • Good understanding of switching waveforms, Semi-conductor losses and experience with loss modelling.

  • Solid understanding of the theory and application of magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors (Electrolytic, film and Ceramic) used for power conversion.

  • Good experience with design analogue/digital circuits and micro-processors.

  • Awareness of UL and CE electrical safety requirements and EMC requirements relevant to the design of power converters.

  • Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial applications.

  • Knowledge of basic control theory and experience with embedded programming

  • Knowledge in power electronic circuit design including semiconductor selection, capacitor selection, inductor/transformer design, gate driver design and sensor circuits’ design.

  • Knowledge in automotive networking (e.g., CAN, LIN) standards

  • Experience in supervision of PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition and EMC optimization.

  • Familiar with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools.

  • Relevant hands-on hardware experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) design.

  • Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analysers, Signal Generators etc.).

Experience Required

  • Strong engineering foundation at least equivalent to Bachelors/Masters in related fields of Engineering.

  • 8+ years of prior industry experience

  • Experience with FSAE, SAE Baja, Solar Car, etc. is a plus.
