Lead - Electronics and Hardware

Responsibilities:

  • Selection and use of DSPs, microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices (FPGA/CPLD) and their peripheral circuitry

  • Design and development of digital and analogue electronics for control of high-power electronic systems

  • Work on control boards and other electronics – from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing

  • Work effectively with cross functional teams to ensure design requirements are met and provide feedback and solution on the board level for the issues related to hardware, SI/PI, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing.

  • Work with vendors and manufactures to resolve issues related to PCB fabrications and assembly.

  • Supervise design team and contractors on PCB design.

  • Designing digital communication busses (CAN, Automotive/Industrial Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.)

  • Work with teams to strategically identify information to log that quantifies real world performance

  • Strong capability to drive project and finish qualified design on time.

  • Designing board level power supplies (buck, boost, flyback, etc.)

  • Creation of Product development methodology for the electronics design

  • Conduct knowledge sharing and skilling up sessions for the team

  • Drive an innovation-based problem-solving approach in the team

  • Optimize the time and accuracy of the design cycles with constant improvements in the methodology

  • Optimize and update the performance of the design and team with new suitable developments

Skillset Required:

  • Proficiency in HDI PCB design using fine pitch BGA with multilayer PCB boards.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Eagle or Altium 

  • Solid knowledge on PCB materials and develop board stack up per design requirement.

  • Excellent communication skills with strong initiative and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, team environment.

  • Experience with High-Speed PCB design, target speed over 112G

  • Experience with high-speed interface layout design rules such as DRAM, CSI, PCIe, etc.

  • Experience with power supply and switching regulators layout.

  • Experience with IPC standards and practices. CID an asset.

  • Experience in of DSPs, microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing PCBs.

  • Proficiency with basic EE tools (scopes, network analysers, etc.)

Experience Required:

  • Strong engineering foundation at least equivalent to Bachelors/Masters in related fields of Engineering.

  • 8+ years of prior industry experience

  • Experience with FSAE, SAE Baja, Solar Car, etc. is a plus.
