Engineer - Mechanical Architecture

Responsibilities

  • 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies

  • Conceptualizing the architecture of various components in Electric powertrain on both part level and assembly level

  • Integration of various components on part and system level

  • Support ongoing/continuous product and process improvement

  • Design for Assembly analysis (DFA) for every part and sub-assembly.

  • Drive design standardization for various parts among multiple powertrain platforms

  • Support design progression and evolution with multi-disciplinary engineering teams based on your analysis

  • Root cause analysis for various field problems

  • Optimize designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to identify risks, strategically create simulations, plan and conduct validation testing, and deliver objective, data-driven engineering guidance and solutions

  • Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems

  • Provide data and technical guidance for other product development efforts

Skillset Required

  • Strong engineering fundamentals in materials and mechanics

  • Experience and know-how of various manufacturing processes such as metal stamping, Extrusion, welding/brazing, Metal Casting, Heat treatments etc.

  • Experience With Motor, Gearbox & drivetrain components design

  • Desire to own a lot and work hard - we have small teams and fast timelines

  • Demonstrated ability to create products: CAD design to hands-on prototyping

  • Proficiency in CAD modelling; Autodesk Inventor experience a plus

  • Experience in various aspects of structural Finite element modelling.

  • Proficiency in any FEA software

  • Must have experience in design documentation and design development.

  • Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analysing data

  • Knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Experience designing for high volume assembly, both manual and automated

Experience Required

  • Strong engineering foundation at least equivalent to Bachelors/Masters in related fields of Engineering.

  • 0-3 years of prior industry experience

  • Experience with FSAE, SAE Baja, Solar Car, etc. is a plus.
